TaSCA Project
We are working with the Kasasa Community of Kyotera District, to construct a fully-fledged secondary school in Kyotera District close to the border between Uganda and Tanzania, where we have acquired cheap land as part of the preparation for this project.
Search for funding is on, with some prospects in the US. The initiation of the TaSCA project by Peace Africa aims at addressing the challenges facing communities in rural Uganda such as lack of enough secondary schools to meet the numbers of children completing primary level education; presence of standards and secondary education approaches devoid of relevant life skills development, local performing arts, and multi-cultural awareness, as well as having an indigenous cultural basis as part of children’s development and upbringing.
The Peace Africa board, together with the Kasasa community have decided to open up a small community board room and office to initiate and continue dialogue in regards to this project and give a unique platform for community engagement with in this community.
As a community based organisation, this is a very exciting development and initial grounding for this project. Our current discussions and proposal envision a fully-fledged secondary school, a community sacco, and an open performing arts space, as the three pillars of this project, each of which feeds into community activities that sight communal challenges as well as their solutions by and for the community. This is a very exciting model and approach to community concerns here.
All infrastructure for the implementation of the construction phase of the TaSCA Project have been completed. We thank your partner the InteRoots Initiative, our German Association, EAEI, for all kinds of support rendered that has led to this success so far.
